Homework - Reading
Daily reading. Huckleberries should be read to, read with a family member or friend, or read independently every day. About 20 to 30 minutes is sufficient, but the focus must stay on the joy of reading. Frequent visits to the library and listening to audio books are ways to help your child engage in a wide range of topics. Environmental reading is good practice: reading signs, recipes, instructions, parts of the newspaper. Reading is exciting. Enjoy reading often with your Huckleberry.
Birthdays
In the Huckleberries we try to celebrate birthdays as close to the actual day as possible. Unfortunately we cannot celebrate on Wednesdays as they are early release days. Near the date I will do my best to check in with your student about how they would like to celebrate, but I so appreciate emails or pick up/drop-off check ins to help me remember all students' birthdays. Although we do not share snacks or treats, we do celebrate birthdays in Huckleberry North by letting students choose a craft of game to do with their classmates.
